EVENTS

After a very packed Event Calendar for April, we're slowing things down just a bit before we head into a pretty busy summer schedule.

Very excited that TDS has offered to host our monthly Tech Mash Up at their offices to "hash" out what implications the legalization of cannabis may have on work and travel.

To be blunt, it's a conversation you don't want to miss!

Tech Mash Up : Cannabis at Work and Impact on Travel

Colton Hnatiuk and Jennifer McRae

WHEN: Thursday, May 28 12 noon - 1 PM
WHERE: TDS Boardroom
                17th Floor, 242 Hargrave,
                True North Square Building

THE INNOVATORS RE-CAP

We hosted the 8th staging of our signature event on April 25, 2019. Rob Lloyd - the featured guest - is a former Winnipegger and graduate of the University of Manitoba, who was President at CISCO Systems and former CEO of Virgin Hyperloop One. Our MC for the evening was CTV News Anchor, Beverly Thomson.

The biggest takeaway was Rob's confident message that "if you can make it in Winnipeg, you can make it anywhere". If you missed it, follow the hashtag #TheInnovators to see just how much our future is about to change, and click here to read the post-event article by Jason Halstead.

WHAT'S UP AT ICTAM

Welcome Nicolette to ICTAM

Hey there! I've spent my entire adult life studying communication. Funny enough, I started my career as a Sports Journalist, then eventually transitioned into the wonderful world of non-profits; and now I'm happy to be part of the team at ICTAM as Marketing and Communication Coordinator.

MEMBER SPOTLIGHT

With 15 years under its belt Resolute is continuing to evolve with its clients - mostly mid-sized businesses. The company first started as a consulting firm with managed IT Services; then started offering custom development, mobile apps, and integration services.  Continuing the suite of services - two years ago they added IT recruitment to their resume; just last year they started an IT security practice; and their most recent addition is industry insights - they track industry trends and compare reports with their clients to identify areas for improvement. Resolute is a full-service provider for mid-sized businesses for all IT and IT-related systems.
We spoke to Colton, their Marketing and Communication Specialist and asked him for a phrase to describe Resolute's relationship with ICTAM : "Mutually beneficial".

This is only a fraction of Resolute's 70 member team.

5 things to remember about social media:
1. Trust is the currency on social media, so build relationships.
2. Go where your audience is.
3. Have a strategy specific to each platform.
4. Research what people are talking about & the hashtags they're using.
5. Find your "secret sauce" - story that will build connections.

TECHIES CAN DANCE HIGHLIGHTS

April 3 & 4, 2019

Women make up 25% of the STEM workforce in Canada and while that number is 2% higher in Winnipeg, it's not enough and MAVEN is doing something about it. This past event was a way to show girls how technology can be used in virtually every aspect of their life and hopefully it sparked an interest in pursuing a career in STEM.
