55 Western Canadian Companies Set to Scale-Up in Vegas With ICT West

For Immediate Release: Hatching companies is an important element of any tech ecosystem, but the growth of these companies is also essential. 55 companies from Western Canada touch down in Las Vegas for International CES – the world-renowned trade show – to showcase their technologies and build connections that will help them scale. The 5 made-in-Manitoba companies attending as part of the ICT West delegation are all in hiring mode and are ready grow.

What does this mean for Manitoba’s economy? Long-term development of the tech ecosystem in Manitoba depends on people looking out to scale up. High-growth, export-oriented companies lead to job creation, which is good for the provincial economy. With a delegation of companies that have pitched successfully on Dragon’s Den like TrapTap, developed AI chat bots like Master of Code, are invested in creating smart city solutions like Trainfo and so much more, Manitoba-made innovation is moving well beyond the provincial borders.

“Our goal with ICT West is to support local companies looking to grow globally,” says Kathy Knight, CEO of the ICT Association of Manitoba (ICTAM). “The focus of this project is narrow but the impact is big.”

Over the past 2 years, more than 130 companies from across Western Canada and reported back over 300 million dollars in sales and investment as a result of attending international trade events with ICT West. These high-growth, export oriented companies are working with global brands using innovative technologies to provide solutions.

“We live in a globally connected landscape where companies and consumers are dependent on rapidly evolving technologies. Not only has the tech sector experienced accelerated growth, it’s enabled it in nearly every sector of the economy,” says Knight. “Promoting the sector and professional opportunities in other national and international markets to attract specialized talent is essential to seeing that growth here at home.”
